How does Paysavo hold my crypto?

Paysavo's crypto product is custodial: your crypto balance is held by Paysavo on your behalf inside Paysavo's own account infrastructure, not in a personal wallet where you hold the private keys.

Short answer

Paysavo's crypto product is custodial. This is already shown directly in the app — when you go to withdraw crypto, you'll see a "Custodial" badge next to your asset, along with the note "Your Paysavo balance is used for this withdrawal." In plain terms: your crypto balance lives inside Paysavo's own systems as an internal balance tied to your account, rather than in a personal wallet where you alone control the private keys.

How it works

When you buy, sell, receive, or hold crypto through Paysavo, what you're really holding is a balance recorded in Paysavo's own account infrastructure — similar in spirit to how your fiat wallet balance works. Behind the scenes, Paysavo maintains a dedicated account for each customer within its own custody setup, and that per-customer account sits under Paysavo's overall pooled account relationship with its exchange infrastructure. You don't manage a seed phrase or private key for this balance, and you don't need to — Paysavo is responsible for safeguarding it and for making the underlying asset available when you withdraw, trade, or spend it.

This is different from self-custody (a personal wallet where only you hold the keys). With Paysavo's custodial model, moving crypto out of your account — say, to an external wallet — is handled as a withdrawal request that Paysavo processes on your behalf, rather than a transaction you sign yourself.

Good to know

  • The "Custodial" label you see on the withdrawal screen is the accurate, current description of how your balance is held — this article doesn't change or add operational detail beyond that.
  • If you're looking to move funds to a wallet you control, see the crypto withdrawal articles in this section.
  • If your withdrawal is delayed or shows as pending, see "Why is my crypto withdrawal pending?"
