Why does my crypto quote expire?

A crypto trade quote is only valid for a short, fixed window (120 seconds by default in Paysavo's current configuration) — if it expires before you confirm, you'll need to request a new one.

Short answer

When you ask Paysavo to buy, sell, or swap crypto, you first get a quote — a locked-in price for that specific trade. That quote is only good for a short, fixed window of time. As of this writing, Paysavo's default is 120 seconds, though this is a configurable value and could change without a separate announcement — treat it as "a short window," not a permanent guarantee of an exact number of seconds. If you don't confirm the trade before the quote expires, it can no longer be used, and you'll see a message like "Quote expired. Please refresh."

How it works

Buying, selling, or swapping crypto on Paysavo is a two-step flow:

1. Request a quote. Paysavo checks current market pricing and gives you a quote_id, an estimated amount, and an expiry time.
2. Confirm the quote. You review the numbers and confirm to execute the trade at the locked-in price.

The expiry exists because crypto prices move constantly — a price quoted a few minutes ago may no longer reflect the market. Paysavo checks the quote's expiry at the moment you confirm; if the current time is past the quote's expiry, the trade is blocked rather than executed at a stale price.

Confirming the same quote twice (for example, from a double-tap on "Confirm") does not create two trades — trade confirmation is designed to be safe to retry.

What to do if your quote expires

  • Simply request a new quote and confirm it promptly. This is normal and does not mean anything went wrong with your account.
  • If your quotes are expiring repeatedly before you can confirm them, check your connection speed, or try confirming more quickly after reviewing the price.
  • The amount you actually receive is always based on the quote you confirmed while it was still valid — never a stale or expired price.

Search terms this covers: crypto quote timeout, price expired, trade quote invalid, crypto price lock expired, "Quote expired" error.
