Why was my transaction reversed or failed?

"Reversed" and "Failed" both mean a transaction didn't complete as intended, but the exact label and the reason depend on whether it's a deposit or a withdrawal — this article maps each label to what it means and links to the specific cause and to the reversal mechanism, rather than re-explaining either.

Direct answer

If a transaction shows "Failed," "Cancelled," or you've been told it was "reversed," it means that specific transaction didn't complete the way it was meant to. Which label you see, and why, depends on whether it's a deposit or a withdrawal — Paysavo tracks the two differently. This article is a short map from label to meaning; it doesn't re-explain how a reversal is carried out (see [Reversed or refunded transactions](reversed-or-refunded-transactions) for that) or go deep on the cause of a specific outcome (see the linked articles below for those).

How it works

| You see | Transaction type | What it means | Read more |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cancelled (internally "Blocked") | Deposit | The deposit didn't complete; if it had already credited your wallet, that amount is taken back out as part of the same transition. | [Why is my deposit still pending?](deposit-pending) |
| Failed | Withdrawal | The payout provider confirmed no transfer was created, or reported a final failure — no funds were sent. | [Why did my withdrawal fail?](withdrawal-failed) |
| Cancelled | Withdrawal | The withdrawal was stopped before completing, including being blocked by Paysavo's risk checks. | [How withdrawal status works](how-withdrawal-status-works) |
| UnderReview | Withdrawal | Not a failure yet — Paysavo hasn't confirmed with the provider what actually happened, and is deliberately not treating it as failed (or retrying it) until that's resolved. | [How withdrawal status works](how-withdrawal-status-works) |
| Refunded/Reversed | Withdrawal | Your wallet had already been debited for this withdrawal, and the amount has been credited back. | [Reversed or refunded transactions](reversed-or-refunded-transactions) |

For the complete list of every status label Paysavo uses — not just the failure/reversal ones — see [Understanding transaction status labels](understanding-transaction-status-labels).

What to do next

  • Check your transaction's exact label first — "Failed" and "Cancelled" are different outcomes with different causes, and only some of them come with a wallet reversal.
  • If your wallet had already been debited or credited and you're not sure whether that's been reversed, see [Reversed or refunded transactions](reversed-or-refunded-transactions) for how that's checked and processed.
  • If you don't understand why a specific transaction reached its current label, contact support with the transaction reference — we can tell you the exact reason recorded for that transaction.
