Setting up a Paysavo Merchant account to accept payments

Any Paysavo user can create a Merchant profile from their own account to accept payments via a payment link/QR code (Standard) or via API with client credentials (Express) — this is a separate, lighter-weight system from a verified Business (KYB) account, and new merchants require admin approval before they can be paid.

On this page

Paysavo has a Merchant feature that lets any signed-in Paysavo user set up a profile to accept payments from other people, separate from — and simpler than — a fully verified Business (KYB) account. If you just need a payment link or QR code to get paid, this is the feature for you; if you need full business banking (multi-owner verification, business wallets, cards, etc.), that's the separate Business account flow.

How it works

1. From your account, go to Merchant and add a new merchant profile: business name, website URL, a currency, and a short note about what it's for.
2. Choose a type:
- Standard — generates a payment link/QR code that others can use to pay you directly.
- Express — additionally generates API credentials (a client ID and client secret) so you can integrate payments into your own website or app.
3. Your new merchant profile starts in a pending review state — it must be approved by Paysavo before anyone can actually pay it. This is not instant.
4. Once approved, your payment link/QR code becomes usable.

Fees

Each merchant profile is assigned to a merchant group, which determines the payment fee and who pays it — either you (the merchant) absorb the fee, or it's added on top for the person paying you, depending on how your merchant group is configured. Check your merchant settings to see which applies to you.

Troubleshooting

  • If your merchant payment link shows as unavailable, check whether your merchant profile is still pending approval, or whether your account itself has been suspended or made inactive — both block payments from going through.
  • If you need your merchant type changed (e.g. from Standard to Express) or your API credentials reset, contact support.
