Why some mobile money deposits redirect to a page instead of sending a phone prompt

Depending on your country, a Flutterwave mobile money deposit either sends an approval prompt straight to your phone, or opens a provider authorization page where you enter your mobile money PIN — both are normal, and which one you get depends on your country's mobile money rail.

## Direct answer
Paysavo's mobile money deposits (powered by Flutterwave) work in one of two ways, and which one you see depends on your country:

  • On-phone approval: after you submit the deposit, you get a push notification or USSD prompt directly on your phone. You approve it there with your mobile money PIN. No further action is needed on the Paysavo page.
  • Redirect to an authorization page: after you submit the deposit, Paysavo takes you to a page hosted by the mobile money provider, where you enter your PIN to authorize the payment, then return to Paysavo.

Both are legitimate parts of the same Flutterwave-powered deposit flow — you haven't been sent somewhere unsafe, and neither method is a sign something went wrong.

## Which one you'll see
Countries using Flutterwave's Francophone mobile money rail (currently Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, and Senegal for XOF, and Cameroon for XAF) use the redirect-page flow. Other supported countries use the on-phone approval flow.

## After you return from the redirect page
Your deposit is not marked successful just because you completed the redirect page — Paysavo still waits for a confirmed settlement notice from the provider before crediting your wallet. If the return page shows your deposit as still confirming, that's expected; give it a short time before contacting support.

## If you don't get a phone prompt
See the general mobile money troubleshooting article on approving a deposit prompt and selecting the correct network — those steps (confirming your phone number and network operator) apply here too.
