How to freeze or unfreeze your card
Freezing your card immediately blocks it from being used; unfreezing restores it. Both actions call your card processor directly and take effect right away.
## Direct answer
Freezing your Paysavo card blocks new transactions on it immediately. Unfreezing lifts that block and restores normal use. You can do either from your card's screen in the app.
## How it works
Freeze and unfreeze are handled as direct, real-time calls to Paysavo's card processor — there's no separate approval step or delay built into the freeze/unfreeze action itself (app/Services/VirtualCardService.php). When you freeze a card, Paysavo records a reason for it; by default this is recorded as "lost or stolen," reflecting that freezing is commonly used as an immediate protective action if you suspect your card details have been compromised or your card is missing.
## Troubleshooting
- Card still declining after unfreezing: give it a moment and check the card's status screen — if it still shows frozen, try again or contact support rather than repeating the unfreeze action many times.
- Can't find the freeze option: card management may not currently be available on your account (see "Managing your Paysavo card").
